Beauty in life and travel as a disability mom
♿️Accessible destinations, itineraries, and real life

Japanese karaoke is a vibe you don’t want to miss! Japanese karaoke is a vibe you don’t want to miss! The most FUN we had in Japan, and one of my new favorite family moments - period.

We did a lot of research to find the best spot on a budget and with kids - so save this for your trip!

You’ll find loads of karaoke options in any city, and even a few in smaller destinations. Some are primarily bars, some serve food, some are family friendly and all are party driven!

📍Karaoke Rainbow is a chain, available in most cities. They offer family-friendly hours/discounts and have a wide variety of food and drink options. We sang our hearts out in the Namba, Osaka location. There was elevator access from the street and the karaoke and drink areas were accessible. The bathrooms were up a single step. I struggled to find accessibility information online, so if you’ve found a more accessible option I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

It cuts off abruptly because this is real life rig It cuts off abruptly because this is real life right now 😂

It’s been a whirlwind, cramming training into every available moment - in waiting rooms, in the carpool lane, in the bathroom. We had training videos playing while we did PT or chores or whatever - and it’s done!

Two 9-5 days this week and I’ll be a certified home health aid! Then I’m hoping I can dive deep into catch-up mode for the rest of life that I’ve put on hold.

YES, I know there are plenty of better foods we sh YES, I know there are plenty of better foods we should be trying when we’re visiting new places, but I have two nine-year-olds who disagree.

We actually walked here from a Michelin starred Okonomiyaki restaurant. It was delicious… to Mom and Dad. The kids tried it, but two of them don’t like mayonnaise, two of them don’t like squid (not the same two), and none of them like potatoes. They ate politely, but we knew it was a struggle, and they weren’t full.

A stop at McDonald’s was like a Christmas surprise - they were so excited. They ate chicken nuggets and French fries and got cheap little dinosaur toys and relished the moment.

It didn’t feel like caving in to picky eaters. It felt like a special evening where everyone got a treat.

I am not dead: just unavailable. As it turns out, I am not dead: just unavailable.

As it turns out, I CAN’T do it all. I’d already deleted Facebook from my phone and limited online hours to work hours, but that’s not enough for this phase.

My phone is off and I’m offline - just for a few weeks to tackle the bigger priorities.

I look forward to catching up with you all soon. In the meantime, let this serve as your reminder that you don’t have to do it all. Limits are our most wasted gift.
